Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York is pleased to present if you surrender, a group exhibition curated by Molly Davy and Daniel Johnson, featuring works by Sophie Chalk, Edi Dai, Dominique Duroseau, Sandra Erbacher, Lisa Kill, Jasmin Risk, and Anne Clare Rogers.

The works in if you surrender explore the way bodies can be a site of translation, bridging the natural world to the inner self. Each artist uses their body to transform ideas into tangible forms, integrating themes of renewal, labor and power. Together, the works invite the viewer to reflect on the tension between intimacy and abstraction. The artists employ a range of mediums and techniques that ask viewers to let go for a little bit and see where you end up.

18th Street Arts Center, in collaboration with Art At The Airport, are pleased to announce their annual Winter Party on December 10 from 4-7 PM. Free and open to the public, visitors will have the opportunity to connect with over 20 professional artists in their studios directly; view Ranu Mukherjee’s Dear Future in the Propeller Gallery; purchase handmade, artisanal goods by Market Exchange vendor collective; participate in a winter ornament workshop conducted by artist Marcus Kuilando-Nazario; and enjoy a performance by pianist Paul Cornish and 18th Street Arts Center Staff. “The School of Art is pleased to announce that recent MFA graduates Edi Dai and Willis Kingery will be serving as Post-Graduate Associates for the upcoming 2019-2020 academic year. Both graduated in May 2019–Dai with an MFA in Painting/Printmaking and Kingery with an MFA in Graphic Design. Through these roles, Dai and Kingery will be expanding their own practices as artists while furthering their training under Dean Marta Kuzma.”

“In the summer of 2018 the Cleveland Museum of Art greeted its first cohort of graduate fellows, who participated in a two-week seminar created as an intellectual incubator to test new ideas, methodologies, and practices for public engagement in a museum context. Participants were exposed not only to the CMA’s collections but also to a broad spectrum of cultural institutions and communities in Cleveland. The museum’s extensive network of partnerships offers these emerging scholars and artists a view into the city’s unique offerings and potential for innovative artistic and scholarly engagement with the public.”

The Yale School of Art hosts its annual graduate open studios featuring work from the departments of Graphic Design, Painting and Printmaking, Photography, and Sculpture. Studios are open to the public and located across four buildings on Yale's campus in downtown New Haven.
